5-6 Grade news

Greetings,

The 2011-12 school year is off to a great start. What a diverse group of young scholars we have in 5-6th grade. One of the first projects that the students were to complete was a personality collage. We have students will a wide variety of interests from hunting and fishing, to reading and playing video games. Some have placed first in swim meets, while others have finished a close second to their little sister in pine-car derbies. Even though I didn’t go on home visits this year, I feel like I know the students pretty well already. These collages are hanging outside our classroom. We invite you to stop by and take a look at them anytime.

This month has been very busy from learning all of the new rules and procedures, to practices for soccer and volleyball, and working on pieces for the forensics festival. In between all of that, we have managed to learn a few new things. For instance if you see one of my students in the hall and ask him/her what the role of mitochondria or endoplasmic reticulum is, I’m confident they will be able to tell you (they all aced that part of their test). If nothing else, they should be able to explain to you the rules of “matball”.

I’m really looking forward to watching these students develop throughout the course of this school year. Please feel free to stop by for a visit anytime.
